Dear Colleagues,

The Institute of International Politics and Economics  (IMPP), in cooperation with the Institute for European Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), plans to organize on 12 July 2017, an international scientific conference in Belgrade, on the topic:

"INITIATIVES OF THE 'NEW SILK ROAD' - ACHIEVEMENTS AND CHALLENGES".

The Conference aims to launch on a scientific level a broad discussion on the achievements in the implementation of the "New Silk Road" as a global China's development strategy in both its directions (north - land direction, formulated through initiative "Economic belt Silk Road" and the south - sea direction, defined through the initiative of the "Maritime silk road of the 21st century"). Due to the aforementioned initiatives are indicative action plan for the opening of China to the world, the Conference should be reviewed and possible geopolitical and geo-economic challenges that these initiatives carry with them, as well as the benefits that these initiatives undertaken in respect of the opening of the long-term perspectives of development for countries of Asia, Africa and Europe. Special emphasis in the work of the conference will be given to the analysis of the cooperation between China and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe in the framework of the mechanism of "16 + 1", and the development of comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Serbia.

The Conference will take place in Serbian and English. Simultaneous translation will not be provided; participants who will give their oral presentation in Serbian will accompany it with Power Point presentation in English. Papers that are accepted for participation in the Conference will be published in the Conference Proceedings. More detailed instructions on forwarding papers in English will be subsequently delivered to participants of the meeting.
